In accordance with EN 365, personal fall protection equipment must undergo periodic inspection by a competent person at least every 12 months, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In this course you will gain the knowledge required to carry out these inspections safely, efficiently, and correctly.
The designation “Sakkyndig Person” is an AAK Safety course and role title and does not appear as a defined term in regulations or standards. It is a collective term used by AAK Safety to describe a person who is qualified to fulfil the employer’s obligations as specified in applicable regulations and standards.
The course is primarily intended for companies that wish to carry out periodic inspections of their own fall protection equipment internally, but it also provides a basis for inspecting others’ equipment, as well as an understanding of the applicable regulations for working at height. Typically, one or two people within an organization hold this competence. This provides better oversight and reduces both time consumption and costs.
The standard course is conducted over three days and concludes with both theoretical and practical assessments. The course covers personal fall protection equipment such as harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, and connectors.
The course does not include self-retracting lifelines or automatic descent or rescue devices where the manufacturer’s instructions require disassembly or inspection by the manufacturer or an authorized service center.
The course provides a solid foundation for performing periodic inspections in accordance with current regulations. To maintain competence, it is recommended that inspections are carried out regularly.
For those who have not performed periodic inspections for some time, we offer refresher courses.
If you also wish to gain competence in the inspection of self-retracting lifelines, please contact us for information on available options and manufacturer-specific requirements.
